TEDx Glasgow 2017 win Icon's Event of the Year Award!

Huge congratulations to TEDx Glasgow!  On Friday 15th September TEDx Glasgow picked up Icon's Event of the Year Award.  Set within the Hilton Glasgow, the Icon Awards want to reward those businesses and individuals striving for inclusiveness and championing diversity in all forms across Scotland. To accurately award those who have benefited diversity in Scotland, Icon asks the public themselves for nominations and recommendations.

The Event of the Year 2017 was a tough category to win, with the other finalists being, The Edinburgh Fringe, Pride Edinburgh, Mela Festival and TRNSMT Festival.

I play a very small part in TEDx Glasgow, I've been privileged enough to be one of the photographers for the last few years and it's always a highlight.

Here's a few of my images and personal highlights of this years award winning conference.

Some of my personal highlights from the Event of the Year

Dare to Defy Gravity - Richard Browning

It's a classic tale of innovation, with a rather unusual ending. A big vision. A dream. Eventually achieved through learning and striving, and never being put off by a seemingly constant influx of failure. Instead, Richard found awesome and diverse people to collaborate with.

Richard Browning takes flight in the Hydro Arena

Richard Browning, 'the Man with the Iron Man Suit' took flight at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) last week as part of a special series of events which started with the arrival of TEDx Glasgow (2nd June) and culminated with an exclusive live flight within The SSE Hydro.

What if... - David Eustace

This talk aims to highlight and display evidence of the importance in taking a first, often doubtful and fearful, step. The possibility of rejection and negativity can cast doubt on hopes and to an extent shape the future. "What if?"

Bringing Simplicity to Complexity: How to Design at Scale - Jonah Jones

The Google Maps navigation and cartography teams have an overwhelmingly complex task: to create a universal experience that helps people navigate their world, no matter where in the world they are. How do you create an experience that works for well-established road grids in New York City and dirt roads in rural India?
